I've always had an entrepreneurial spirit, from an early age I had an interest in cars.  Later as a young adult I started one of the first mobile auto detailing companies in Southern California, Allied Mobile Detailing (1-800-2DETAIL). In 1995 Allied Mobile Detailing was sold with the assistance of Mr. Mike Mugavaro and The Franchise Broker.

It was during this time I recognized some key factors which later became the cornerstone philosophy of building 1-800 DRYCARPET, these are customer satisfaction and recognizable BRAND identity.  In 1995, I teamed up with world renowned chemist Dr. Don Atkins and developed a dry organic product for carpet.

Why 1-800 DRYCARPET®  My Blog
First and foremost I wanted to clearly communicate that my company stood for something entirely different than steam, chem, foam or pseudo "dry and/or dri" methods.  Secondly, I wanted to make it easy for people to get in touch with us.  There's an interesting story how this number became available.  In the mid 90's the company obtained the toll free number 1-888-DRYCARPET and a lady named Paula who worked for IBM in New York was receiving calls for us on her pager; 1-800 DRYCARPET.  I called her 800 number from time to time to check in and to let her know that I was interested in her pager number.  The problem was that her number was not hers, it belonged to a paging company.  After several months of people from California bothering her with carpet cleaning inquiries she called me and turned over her pager number/account to me.  Then the paging company (also based in New York) told me that they were going to "RESPORG" the number over to me (RESPORG is a telecommunications acronym that means "responsible organization").  So, the miracle of obtaining our catchy brand-name (and phone number) is due, in part, to the cooperation of a nice lady with IBM and the generosity of her paging company.  

Why is our product called Swedry® 
Well, I'm Swedish.  While visiting family in Stockholm, Sweden, I noticed a bus that had "SWEDEBUS" written in large letters on the side.  So, I stuck "SWE" in front of "DRY".  Originally I wanted to call the product "SPONGEX".  I decided on "SWEDRY" in honor of my mother and my family in Stockholm, Nykvarn and Malmo.

Since the late 90's the company has focused on Internet software as well as green technology.  We're known for featuring customers in our radio ads, Blogs, and in print media.
